Spencer Cooper was a Methodist minister from Lexington, Ky. One of his daughters, Annie, married Theodore B. Phillips in 1869. Phillips was an accountant with W. S. Hume and Co., of Silver Creek, Madison county, Ky., distillers of sour mash, bourbon, rye and malt whiskies. Another daughter, Virginia, married D. C.
